His first performance, at age eleven, started in his country church.  Under the encouragement of his parents and his piano mentor, Archie Swenson, he developed a true appreciation for acoustical instruments. While attending Mankato State College he studied music theory and composition. In 2002 he wrote a special composition for his son’s wedding entitled “A Fathers Love” which is receiving warm radio play around the country.  In 2005 he founded the Vasa Valley Music Foundation who’s mission includes underwriting music concerts serving the public good and the continuation of music education.

Today Michael continues to improve his piano artistry through his live performances. He has performed throughout the United States and is now back on tour performing Benefit Concerts.

Michael Nelson is an accomplished and nationally renowned pianist, entertainer, composer and recording artist who was born in St. Paul, Minnesota.  When he was five years old his family moved to the beautiful wooded and rolling hills of rural Vasa, Minnesota.  In 1999 he started Vasa Valley Music and in early 2003 he created his new touring company VVM Entertainment.
